Making an Herbal Infusion
Herbal infusions are a fantastic way increase the value of the tea we drink. We often use Nutritive Tonics in our herbal infusions such as Oat-Straw, Nettles, Milky Oats, Red Clover, Alfalfa etc. These plants are high in minerals and nutrients and help to deeply nourish tissues in the body. Herbal infusions are the preferred method of extraction for many Nutritive Tonics because the minerals and nutrients they contain are water soluble.
Ratio: 1oz of herb per Quart of Water (This does not have to be exact. It is totally ok to eyeball it.) This looks like approx. 1 inch in the bottom of a ball jar. Feel free to experiment and make your own combination of these herbs!
Some plants prefer a cold infusion. This is true for our plants rich in mucilage such as Marshmallow.
I prefer making a Decoction to extract constituents from roots and mushrooms in order to extract the maximum constituents out of these plants.
